Mark Muckerheide held various leadership roles at CARE International. His last role was AVP, Program, Strategy and Innovation, where he led CARE’s $360 million per year program team which operated 1,000 programs in 110 countries reaching 166 million people annually covering program areas of Food & Water Systems, Health Systems, Education & Workforce Development, Climate Resilience, Women & Girls Programs and Financial Inclusion. Before that, he created CARE’s Financial Inclusion unit, growing CARE’s Market Based programs from $2 million per year to $105 million per year over the course of six years. This growth supported 10m farmers & entrepreneurs to gain access to $1 billion in economic gains. Before that, Mark joined CARE as CEO of CARE Social Ventures Corporation, CARE’s for-profit arm, holding CARE’s impact investing, social ventures and Corporate Advisory Service companies.
Before joining CARE, Mark spent 20 years as a retail executive with Target Corporation. Mark's first 15 years at Target were in brand management and merchandising, with his last role as Director of one of Target's billion-dollar food & beverage business units. During Mark’s last five years at Target, he served as Director, Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility where his team was responsible for a $100 million philanthropic portfolio.
Mark lives in Minneapolis with his wife and three daughters and enjoys running, hiking and traveling with his family.
